Global Unification trains Farmers gardeners in Dongoroba

Global Unification The Gambia, a youth-led civil society organization with a main focus on environmental conservation, climate change and community development, has recently organized capacity building programme for about 300 women gardeners in the village of Dongoroba, in Jarra East, Lower River Region.

The month training was part of the first phase of the organisation’s implementation process of the Women Initiative For Education and economic empowerment (WIFE) project, a rural-base pilot project that aims to improve the income generating capacities of rural women.

The women were exposed to various garden management and operation techniques; such as compost making, demarcation techniques, the different vegetable varieties and seasonal qualities, as well as some marketing strategies.

Speaking about the training, the trainer, Lamin Darboe of the Jenoi Agriculture Training Centre, affirmed that the training has offered the women relevant knowledge on gardening techniques and expressed convince that the women would effectively implement the knowledge gained for better yields. He hailed the gardeners for their cooperation and steadfastness during the training, and Global Unification The Gambia, for empowering the rural women.
