Dear Mr Paul Shaw,
I am Taiwo Adesoba, International Coordinator of the Global Youth Coalition Against Cancer (GYCC).
I commend your efforts at creating opportunities for African youth through the Network of African Youth for Development (NAYD). During the Women Deliver Conference 2013 in Malaysia, I mobilized young people from other parts of the world to start the Global Youth Coalition Against Cancer (GYCC). The first global youth movement on cancer and I am using this medium to inform you personally about this project. I want you to be a part of it .
The Global Youth Coalition Against Cancer (GYCC) is the first ever global youth movement on cancer. GYCC started in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during the Women Deliver Conference 2013. It is an association of young people (18-35 years) who are passionate about the Cancer Prevention. Currently, GYCC focuses mainly on Breast and Cervical cancer prevention due to the huge threat these illnesses poses to the lives of people, especially women and because they have higher incidence and mortality rates more than other types of cancers at the moment. Membership of GYCC is open to every youth from every region of the world without any restriction. At GYCC, we believe that cancer poses threat to every human irrespective of race, tribe, geographical location or region and collective effort is required in tackling this recalcitrant menace. Currently, GYCC is represented in Africa, Asia and Europe.
At GYCC, we seek to work with scientists in disseminating research finding promptly to young people through the social media, awareness/sensitization campaigns and as well help governments conceptualize interventions that can preserve the lives of young people. We also advocate for the access of young people to Screening, HPV Testing and Vaccines as well.
OUR VISION:We envision a world where cancer is no more a major health problem and create a cancer free world.
OUR MISSION: The Global Youth Coalition Against Cancer is on a mission is to equip young people with information needed to adopt healthy lifestyle that is inimical to cancer development, provide support to young people battling with cancer and collaborate with International organizations and institutions engaged in cancer research, advocacy and training activities.
